Updates from January

Its been a month since my last update, so I thought it was about time I added some new photos to my blog.
Finishing the last Christmas Bird Count on the 3rd of January after completing 6 of them, was great fun as usual.

The weather has dipped down to the extreme's and then back up again, with many of my backyard birds being scared off by a resident female Merlin.
I have had some good fortune though, finding a Brown Creeper in the front yard as well as more Golden-crowned Kinglets.
The female Northern Flicker has also been back and enjoying water from the heated birdbath.
A couple of recent walks around 2 local parks produced sightings of no less than 3 Sharp-shinned Hawks, and 2 Townsend's Solitaire's.

Here are the new photos :

Townsend's Solitaire - Found at a local park last week ...

Sharp-shinned Hawk : One of three birds at a local park near the river...

Brown Creeper - From my own front yard ...

Evening Grosbeak - found on the last Christmas Bird Count on Jan 3rd...

Red-breasted Nuthatch - from my backyard last month ...

And, 2 from the Boxing Day Bird count I did with my wife ...
